Gift of Smiles Volunteer Event

  • Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26, 2009
  • Location – AB Tech Rhododendron Building
  • Time – 9am to 1pm Friday and Saturday
  • Contact Cathy Bolick at cbolick@abccm.org to sign up

The Buncombe County Dental Society has partnered with the Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry and Asheville- Buncombe Technical Community College to create a pilot community volunteer event to help underserved citizens of Buncombe County. ABCCM has identified 100 underserved adult patients through their outreach medical clinic who need dental fillings or extractions. With the generosity of AB-Tech, we will use their state-of-the-art dental facility, and with equipment and supplies donated by dental companies, the only elements missing are volunteer dentists and staff to deliver great compassionate dental care.

We encourage you to sign up for Friday or Saturday or both days to help in this Gift of Smiles event. All you need to bring is an assistant and your protective eyewear. All instruments, handpieces, and dental supplies will be provided. (See attached supply list). Feel free to bring any supplies, special burrs, etc not on our list that you would like to personally use. You will also be covered under ABCCM’s insurance policy and lunch will be provided. Local media coverage will ensure that your patients, friends, family and the Buncombe County community will know that you had a part in this wonderful volunteer event.
